Frequently asked questions about our painting holidays

Painting holidays - frequently asked questions at Creative Holidays Spain

What is the usual mix of people on your painting holidays?
Typically, our groups are a mixture of couples, small groups of friends, art groups and single people, with ages ranging from early 40s to late 70s

Can my non-painting partner join your holidays?
Yes, that is not a problem. There is a £85 deduction of the full price for people not attending the painting tuition. Your partner will still be able to join in at all the meals, excursions, and any social events. We can help to arrange other activities for your non-painting partner.

I will be travelling on my own but I am worried about my safety!
There is no need to worry about travelling alone. You will be met as soon as you enter the Arrivals Hall at Malaga Airport. We have many single clients and we look after you from the moment you arrive.

I am a beginner at painting, is this a problem?
Not at all. The tuition at Creative Holidays Spain is geared for both absolute beginners as well as those who want to improve and develop their painting skills.

Being a beginner at painting, will I feel intimidated by others on the course?
Absolutely not, as we provide a safe learning environment, and we usually have a few beginners on each painting course.

I am an accomplished painter and would like to come on one of your holidays. Can I book a holiday without tuition?
Yes by all means. We offer a discount of £85 for accomplished artists who would like to take advantage of our inclusive holiday package, who do not require any tuition.

Can I start and finish my holiday on other days outside the dates on your timetable?
We at Creative Holidays Spain are committed to providing a holiday which suits our client’s needs. On certain weeks we can provide for Wednesday aiport pick-up and drop-off. This allows you to take advantage of cheap midweek flights. We will need to add £30 for the extra airport collection and drop off expense as the journey is just over one hour.

What painting materials do I need to bring?
At Creative Holidays Spain we provide each guest with a portable artists easel for oil painting, a board to rest on for watercolour painting, and a small folding stool. You will need to bring paints of your choice, brushes, canvases or board for oils or acrylic painting, a thin board for stretching watercolour paper, or water-colour paper pad.

If you are a beginner you can buy bargain painting kits or boxes of paints on ebay before your holiday. Make sure you buy a reputable quality of paint otherwise you could be wasting your money. Ian has tried cheaper paints, and they just do not do the job. We sell ready made canvasses and boards for stretching watercolour paper at Creative Holidays Spain for those who do not want to be traveling with them on the way out to their holiday.

Do I have to attend all of the painting sessions?
No, you are free to take time out if you wish. Most days we do our painting at the hotel in a quiet shaded area, which allows people the opportunity to 'drop in' on the painting sessions when they are ready. We have found that most people prefer this teaching method, rather than rushing from one location to another. To add variety of landscapes we do go out on location for a few painting sessions during the week.

What is included in the price of your holidays?
All the holidays are almost fully inclusive, except for your mid-day meal on the half day trip to Ronda and your lunch on the trip to Grazalema. Your holiday includes: all painting tuition, 7 nights accommodation, 7 breakfasts, 5 lunches, 6 evening meals, plenty of wine, all transport, and airport pick up. You only need money for the meals mentioned above, and personal spending money.

How can I pay for my holiday?
There are 2 main options to make payment. We offer you the choice to pay by credit card using our Paypal account(there is no need to have a Paypal account to pay at Paypal anymore). You can also pay through Direct Bank Transfer - this can be done in person at your own bank OR you can process your payment using on-line banking from a UK bank if you have this facility set up. (You will be given full instructions of how to pay once you have made a reservation.)

I am traveling alone. Can I have a room to myself?
Most hotels in Spain are twin rooms, but you can have a room to yourself with no single room supplement.

I would like to extend my holiday before/after the painting week. Can you help to arrange accommodation?
Yes we are more than happy to help. We are in contact with various small hotels and accommodation owners in the region. There is a £12 administration fee to cover our time and phone calls etc., to arrange your additional accommodation. You can also book a second consecutive week of painting at Creative Holidays Spain and you will get your second week for a £75 deduction.
