Your Accommodation

Award winning 3 star tranquil rural Cortijo Hotel

Your accommodation for your painting holiday with Creative Holidays Spain is based in an idyllic and tranquil rural hotel which has been converted from a traditional Spanish farmhouse or Cortijo.

There is NO single room supplement with our accommodation.

The hotel has a very relaxed family atmosphere and many of the staff speak english.

The hotel is part of a large estate which still incorporates a working farm, and is set in its own valley in the Grazelema Natural Park. From the farmhouse you can admire the estate in the valley of the river 'Arroyo Aguila'.

As there is no road through the valley, only the private road to the hotel, then the tranquility is impressive, and yet the hotel is only 15 minutes from Ronda. There is absolute peace and quiet except for the sounds of the bells worn by the cows as they wander around the fields. It is an ideal location for painting holidays as the peace and quiet of the hotel grounds allows for our painting tuition to take place undisturbed.

The hotel offers the opportunity for those who wish to follow the walks and trails through the estate, and enjoy the stunning mountain landscapes. It is in this scenery we are able to walk out from the hotel gate for some of our paining sessions.

The Facilities

The main country house, which is over 170 years old, has been converted into a fully-equipped quality rural hotel, without any loss of its essential character. It offers relaxation in natural surroundings with a comfortable and intimate family atmosphere.

The hotel has a lovely swimming-pool with its own terrace and is a favourite with guests in the summer although the pool is open almost all year round. Nearby is an ecological orchard with almond and olive trees, main patios, gardens and two ancient threshing floors for grain. In the evening guests are welcome to take a stroll around the grounds, along the well-lit paths.

A large comfortable lounge is at the disposal of guests for reading or relaxing which has a cozy open fire which is lit on those cooler evenings. There is a bar which is open all day in the lounge area, as well as a small library, that is well stocked with tourist information (reading material, maps, brochures, etc.). The reception staff will be happy to advise you on local amenities and places of interest.

Accommodation

The rooms are decorated in the traditional rustic style utilising natural and locally crafted materials. There is central heating in all the rooms for the cooler evenings as well as air-conditioning. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, plus telephone and television.

Dining

The hotel has a traditional rustic style dining room that comfortably seats 45 in a relaxed and exclusive atmosphere.

Breakfast is served in the dining room and takes the form of a self service buffet. The breakfast menu includes fresh orange juice, fruits, cheese, sausage meats, locally produced honey, yogurt and bread baked in a traditional wood-burning oven.

Typical local food

All the food served in the dining room is 'traditional local home cooking'. Some of the produce is actually grown on the farm such as free range eggs, organic olives and almonds. They also only use the best local 'virgin extra' olive oil with all its healthy properties.

Painting Areas

Apart from the dramatic scenery, the peace and quiet, and the traditional style of the hotel, there is also plenty of space in the hotel grounds for our painting tuition. At the back of the hotel is one of the traditional threshing circles, which has now been cobbled and has a huge leafy tree in the center. This is where our tuition takes place when we work outside. We also have the use of a large room as a studio, which is cool and well lit.

We spent a long time searching for the ‘ideal hotel’ to base our painting holidays, to ensure that people would feel relaxed, comfortable and above all be inspired by the environment they were staying in. The hotel offers all the facilities you could need and we feel sure that you will not be disappointed when you come and stay with us.
